Minecraft: Early Human Settlements Part 3

Students rejoin the clans established in parts 1 and 2 of this lesson and evolve their settlements into civilizations to better understand how human settlements made the jump to human civilizations.

Lesson Plan

Students should begin by re-entering the Minecraft map used in parts 1 and 2 of this lesson. In part 3, their goal is to change their primitive settlements into full civilizations. Each clan should create its own civilization. Students will have to know the five criteria for judging a civilization, which are: government, religion, stable food supply, arts/language, and social structure. Students should be given roles to help them better understand how a social structure operates and facilitates the creation of their civilization. The assigned roles are as follows:
